The Chincoteague Ponys here are all well kept and all can be traced back to the horses along the Assateague Islands along the Virginia and Maryland coast.
Breed Fact: Every year in July, there is pony penning day to keep the population of the ponys that inhabit the islands at a healthy level where all horses have enough food, water, and territory.
